Vote Yes on Measure E — Protect Mill Valley Schools

On June 2, 2026, Mill Valley School District voters will decide whether to renew and restore the local parcel tax that has funded our outstanding TK–8 public schools since 1987. Measure E is not a new tax — it renews the existing $1,520 base parcel tax and restores the recently expired $234 supplemental tax, amounting to just $0.64 per day per parcel and generating approximately $14.9 million annually for eight years.

MVSD is a Basic Aid district, meaning nearly 90% of its budget comes from local sources. The parcel tax alone represents roughly 25% of the entire district's annual budget. Without renewal, the district would lose approximately $13 million per year — triggering teacher layoffs, larger class sizes, and cuts to the academic programs that make Mill Valley schools among the best in California and the state.

This couldn't come at a worse time. Elementary enrollment is growing by 8% for 2026–27, placing new demands on staffing and classroom capacity. More students don't mean more state dollars for Basic Aid districts — every new enrollee stretches existing resources further.

All Measure E funds stay local, subject to independent citizens' oversight and mandatory annual audits — no money for administrative salaries or pensions. Seniors 65 and older qualify for a full exemption.

Measure E requires a two-thirds supermajority to pass. Every Democratic vote matters. Learn more and get involved at ProtectMillValleySchools.org.
