As a rookie I was part of a significant shift in law enforcement, although at the time I was less aware of the impact that it would have for women to come. Now in retrospect, it’s clear how much our actions, choices, courage, and commitment set the foundation for a healthier, safer, and more equitable future for the generations that follow.

Making a positive difference begins with creating and supporting an open dialogue, maintaining integrity, treating people with respect, and developing sustainable relationships. My commitment to Marin County remains rooted in the ethic that first inspired me to become a public safety officer: authentic community engagement, treat everyone fairly and with respect, and remember that it is our privilege to serve the community.

Shelly Scott has joyfully served as Marin County’s Assessor-Recorder-County Clerk for the last four years, and loved every moment of it!

Over 30 years, Shelly worked her way through the ranks, in every department, before taking the helm. That depth of experience gave Shelly a comprehensive understanding of every department which has helped her be effective in meeting her campaign commitments and department goals.

Asked why she loves her job so much, Shelly responds: “It is a joy to help homeowners navigate complex paths and to watch their confusion give way to understanding, clarity, and empowerment.”

For 30 years, it’s been my joy and privilege to have worked in nearly every aspect of our Marin education system. Currently the Lagunitas and Bolinas-Stinson Superintendent, I’ve taught in—or been an administrator at—six of our Marin School Districts.

My parents, James (a 40-year Marin County Schoolboard member) and Ann (a Marin teacher) taught us the importance of service—through demonstration and practice. They passed to us, their conviction that public education provides a strong foundation for a person to be whole, healthy, and of benefit to the community.

As an educator and a father, I know it’s critical that our students have equitable access to education, encouragement, and resources. And I know from experience, how important it is that local teachers and staff be supported by a competent, collaborative, efficient administration. As I have locally, I will continue to reduce barriers for students and strengthen our education process, so that every Marin student can develop the skills and confidence to meet an unpredictable future with proficiency, compassion, and their own dedication to service.

It has always been an honor to be a Novato City Council representative, working together to develop and champion projects that uphold our home town character and keep us economically strong.
I look forward to bringing my passion, long-term relationships and local government experience to the county-level and representing this community that I love, as your Supervisor. As a Novato native, I feel especially blessed that Kiley and I are able to raise our family here. Our kids remind me, everyday, of the importance of our future health and stability.
Measure A Logo

Vote YES on Measure A to protect parks, rolling hills, shorelines, wetlands, streams, natural lands, and wildlife habitats throughout Marin County, without increasing taxes. Measure A gives us local control over our needs here in Marin County. Independent citizen oversight, mandatory financial audits and annual reports will ensure all Measure A funds are spent as promised.

Measure A will extend existing local funding that will continue to maintain local Marin parks and open space areas, maintain, and improve trails and playgrounds and protect Marin communities from the threat of wildfire.

All Marin residents and visitors will benefit from Measure A. These lands are a living legacy and it’s essential that we renew our investment in them. Vote YES on Measure A.

Vote Yes on Measures B & C

Measures B & C work together to ensure safe and modern classrooms for all San Rafael students in kindergarten through twelfth grade. Measure C upgrades our local elementary and middle schools and Measure B upgrades our high schools.

Voting YES on B & C means that local classrooms, labs, and school facilities will support current science, technology, engineering and math instruction. Measures B & C will ensure all students have access to the same state-of-the-art education that other students in Marin County already have.

Vote YES on B & C to maintain quality San Rafael schools and equip our children with the skills and competencies they need for successful futures.
